From a leaked Wyeth Pharmaceuticals internal memo dated August 27th, 1979 to Mr. Larry Hewlett from Allen Bernstein, Wayne quotes regarding the DTaP vaccine, which was the one that caused his child’s injury:
“After the reporting of the SIDS case in Tennessee, we discussed the merits of limiting distribution of a large number of vials from a single lot, to a single state, county or city health department, and obtained agreement from the senior management staff to proceed with such a plan. . . allocation of stock to distributions centers is designed by lot number in a manner designed to leave the maximum variety of lot numbers in great valley, and marietta to serve substantial orders. Managers and DCs carrying average inventories of over 3,000 packages, approximate, have been requested to advise FSRD of any orders exceeding 2,000 vials. FSRD will then designate shipment by lot number, furnishing additional stock as needed.
So basically what they’re saying here, is they noticed that their vaccine was causing SIDS in a small geographic area, so rather than recall the product, what they did, was a specific lot number of this vaccine that was causing SIDS. So they split it up and sent it around the country to different geographic areas, so that it skewed the data.”

A “whistleblower suit” was filed against Wyeth in 2005 alleging that the company illegally marketed their drug Rapamune. Wyeth is targeted in the suit for off-label marketing, targeting specific doctors and medical facilities to increased sales of Rapamune, trying to get current transplant patients to change from their current transplant drugs to Rapamune and for specifically targeting African-Americans.
