One week before my birthday, some room for fun and novelty. No plan, no idea where it’s headed, just spontaneous sharing for 8 days.
One post per day, of intimate details of my personal life.
I googled myself and a dozen random friends, family, old lovers.
I was surprised to find this as the only valid photo of me, among dozens of not-me photos. It reminded me of a drama when I was arrested for felony fraud. I was nearly extradited from St. Louis to Springfield, MO in about 1990 I spent the night in jail, having been flagged at the airport coming back from Holland.
I spent the night in jail for a $50 check written on a closed account from my freshman year at uni. It was uneventful, despite the familial humilation. But funny too, as several of the other incarcerated men found my story hilarious. And they helped me find the humor in it, despite my and my mother’s and sister’s shock and disapproval.
I admitted to this on my Peace Corps application and feared it would disqualify me.
Now I wonder why it did not.
