Homestead Happenings

Almost entirely happy snaps and almost no complaining at all, really! The garden is mostly great, the weather mostly fine, summer in full swing already, ready or not.

It’s been busy around here, as usual. But, busy in the country way, which is very different. Our preservation season has already begun, and it’s fixing to get very busy very soon. I have mixed feelings about that, but here it is anyway.

I’ve been saving the rose petals for drying and kombucha after admiring their scent and beauty in many lights and angles.

The poppies continue to pop up in random places, among the roses and in cracks and crevices, like dandelions.

And the bees love them as much as I do.

Another rose variety, the thornless Peggy Martin, I just planted last year, is now getting its first blooms.

I’m so very pleased with the transition from cool-season coral honeysuckle blooms to the Dortmond rose takeover, lovely! I especially like the short spell they co-habitat.

The wattle fence I began with the best intentions is languishing due to too many other priorities. It has been a sheep deterrent at least, since the mamas and lambs have taken over the front yard. And even Shadow doesn’t dare stand in their way!

This is where the citrus will go, my new big project. I’m even considering throwing an avocado in there too. I know, very ambitious! But, I want to give some of the new methods a try and it seems like a good time. This side of the house is ideal, the house breaking the north wind and the heavy late afternoon sun. Plus, there’s the extra warmth accumulated in the walls of the house to help in cold snaps, along with the extra heating and draping methods that seem to be working for others.

Ooohhh, anticipation!

Just like the tomatoes and cucumbers coming so soon, right around the corner, and I can hardly wait. The last fermented cucumbers we used up a week ago, amazingly, and they were still crispy and flavorful. I plan to continue and expand my fermenting efforts this summer and fall. More herb pastes, more tea blends, more spice mixes.

The lambs are still doing fine, my how fast they grow.

Spring lambs on springs! 😆

My garden mascots, two white rabbits.

And my single complaint—the spray continues to ruin our beautiful days.

Is this why we can so clearly see these colors, because we have an atmosphere saturated with reflective particulate matter?

Cool pic, or chem-filled haze?

  1. New song by the Boatrawkers i think you will like. i sure do! we get the daily sludge attack as well. few blooms left after a heavy chemical bombing that turned the blooms, the leaves and 1/4 of each branch completely black! year after year in the man-made open air prison camp.

hope you can play this song Kensho. I know you will enjoy it.

    1. HA, that’s great Highlander, thanks!

Sorry to hear about your blooms, again. We get a day or two of nice, and then it starts back up again, then it’s overcast, humid, high wind for several days. While I’m always wishing for more rain, it’s probably a good thing if we don’t get it, considering all the crap in it.

And of course now it’s on the Normalize agenda, so we get folks talking about Bill Gates and his ‘proposals’—Cool, ok, he wants to cover the sun now, sounds like a good plan since it’s so hot, he should give it a try! 😖

It dropped like 10 degrees and felt wonderful when the eclipse was happening—maybe he should try that as a permanent solution?! 😆Just take up one of those big balloons and drop a floating disk up there in front of the sun, would be better than a chemical option, no?

      1. Are people even capable of anything like critical thinking anymore? block the sun and everything dies….everything….hell is cold and dark it is not a hot place….and they want to create hell on earth…like the bill gates from hell, a true demon walking around in a human suit as their savior?

wow….people truly have lost their minds…too busy playing pokemon and candy crunch….

i have heard people say we are at war as the climate engineers terraform the planet as they have done for 75 years now and continue unchecked. we are at war…..but we are at the end of it…we lost! they won…they won the destruction of all life….

the bill gates creature wants to cut down all trees….how hot do you think it will be then??? i know you know it kensho and not talking about ”you” persay….without trees there are deserts were life once flourished.

they said not long ago…they just don’t need us anymore and they don’t need the life forms on the planet…not any of them…their goal is total wipe out and they truly think they can restart it with their gmo sees, trees, plants and genetically modified animals. they are that insane! wipe all living things from the globe and then reset it like a game they play that they can hit reset when the game ends. so too they think they can ”reset” life in THEIR IMAGE….from their worm filled brains….image what that would like because we are 3/4 of the way there!!

        1. Yes, insane! It breaks my heart to see the trees in such poor condition and falling over, roots snapping from disease. Where is the respect and reverence for our precious home?

Reminds me of a channel I’ve been watching some, Michelle Gibson, have you heard of her? Some interesting speculation there about ancient terraforming. I don’t really agree with her conclusions, but her research and presentation style are worth some time, imo.
